Tottenham Hotspur

Roberto De Zerbi has received a welcome fitness boost ahead of Tottenham's meeting with Crystal Palace. James Maddison is available despite being substituted early in the second half of last weekend's 2-0 victory at Chelsea, while Destiny Udogie can also return after missing two matches. The manager remains cautious about Maddison's workload following his previous injury problems. Tottenham's performance at Stamford Bridge offered further encouragement, with De Zerbi praising his team's mentality and their control of possession. An own goal from Mike Penders and a late individual effort from Mathys Tel secured the victory.

De Zerbi could retain much of the side that started against Chelsea. Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke are expected to continue in central defence, with Andrew Robertson on the left and Archie Gray competing with Pedro Porro on the right. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes offer continuity in midfield. Conor Gallagher is a candidate to replace Maddison if the playmaker is not risked from the start. Mohammed Kudus and Tel should provide attacking width, while Omar Marmoush and Dominic Solanke compete for the central attacking role.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace's Carabao Cup victory at Fulham provided Pierre Sage with a timely lift after a disappointing run of Premier League results. Eddie Nketiah scored the only goal in a 1-0 win, while returning goalkeeper Dean Henderson produced several important saves to preserve the clean sheet. Sage made ten changes for the cup tie, giving several regular starters an opportunity to recover. Jean-Philippe Mateta was deliberately rested and is expected to lead the attack against Tottenham. Ismaïla Sarr remains unavailable, while Jørgen Strand Larsen's readiness is still being assessed following his ankle problem.

A return to the defensive structure used against Newcastle appears likely. Jaydee Canvot, Axel Disasi and Chris Richards are candidates to start in the back three, with Tyrick Mitchell and Anan Khalaili operating as wing-backs. Adam Wharton and Daichi Kamada could resume their midfield partnership. Quinten Timber is approaching a return but is more likely to be considered for limited minutes. Yéremy Pino and Dwight McNeil offer creativity behind Mateta, although Nketiah's cup performance gives Sage another attacking option. Henderson's return also creates a decision in goal, with Walter Benítez having deputised during his absence.
