Stoke City
Eric Bocat remains sidelined for Stoke City after starting four of the previous five matches. Luca Bombino, given his first start against Bristol City, is expected to keep his place as ninth-placed Stoke host Preston North End.
Justin Devenny is also set to continue after starting four of the last five matches, although he was withdrawn in each of those appearances, including at half-time against Bristol City. Ben Wilmot has started all five recent games and scored once, and he is expected to continue at right-back.
Preston North End
Jordan Thompson is back in contention after his suspension, having trained all week and ready to challenge Brad Potts for Preston's holding midfield role — a spot Potts claimed with his first start against West Bromwich Albion.
Elsewhere, Caleb Wiley has trained all week and is available for selection again, while Alfie Devine, who has started each of the last five games, was given the all-clear after a scan. Harry Clarke and Liam Lindsay remain doubts, with Lindsay yet to return to training by Wednesday. Delano Burgzorg, handed his first start against West Brom, looks set to make way, with Johnny Kenny expected to lead the line again.
