Liverpool

Liverpool have won five consecutive matches in all competitions, but Andoni Iraola still faces a decision over Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Muñoz. Both have been sidelined since the Brentford game and the manager has not confirmed whether either will be ready. Liverpool progressed past Chelsea on penalties in midweek, with Cody Gakpo scoring in the 1-1 draw.

Iraola made seven changes for that cup tie, allowing several regular starters a lighter workload. Alisson, Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are all candidates to return. Ryan Gravenberch should retain his midfield role, with Virgil van Dijk and Jérémy Jacquet expected in central defence. Ronald Araújo is likely to continue at right-back while Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley remain unavailable. Bradley Barcola and Gakpo offer width around Wirtz and Isak, although Muñoz could alter the attacking choices if he recovers in time.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta must reshape Arsenal's right side with Bukayo Saka unavailable and Max Dowman suspended following his dismissal against Fleetwood Town. Noni Madueke is facing a late fitness check after missing the cup tie with an ankle issue. Christos Tzolis has resumed full training, although a start may come too soon after his hamstring injury. The unexpected penalty-shootout exit to Fleetwood adds another challenge for the reigning champions.

There is better news in midfield and defence. Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori trained on Friday and are expected to be available. Jurriën Timber is pushing to start at right-back, while Ezri Konsa should partner Gabriel in the absence of William Saliba. Bruno Guimarães is a contender to partner Rice, with Martin Ødegaard and Eberechi Eze supplying the creativity. Arteta also has to decide whether Viktor Gyökeres or Kai Havertz offers the better option at centre-forward.
