Feyenoord's 1-1 draw with Fortuna Sittard exposed a familiar concern: the side created opportunities but failed to turn its lead into a win. Luciano Valente was the scorer, and the late equaliser left Giovanni van Bronckhorst with a finishing problem to address before facing Inter's three-man defence.
Injury uncertainty may limit his defensive options. Jeremiah St. Juste missed Monday's final training session, so Tsuyoshi Watanabe is expected to partner Mika Mármol, with Javi López and Givairo Read at full-back. Charles Vanhoutte, Oussama Targhalline and Gjivai Zechiël offer continuity in midfield, while Nacho Ferri remains the likely centre-forward between Valente and Anis Hadj Moussa.
Shaqueel van Persie and Reiss Nelson were back on the training pitch, although their inclusion in the matchday squad has yet to be confirmed. Their potential return would add options from the bench rather than necessarily alter the starting eleven.
Inter Milan
Inter travel to Rotterdam after a 3-1 derby defeat to AC Milan, a result that has sharpened the scrutiny on Cristian Chivu's defensive options. Alessandro Bastoni scored in that match but is suspended in Europe following his dismissal against Shakhtar Donetsk. Carlos Augusto could therefore move into the back three alongside Manuel Akanji and Yann Bisseck.
Chivu also has to manage the absence of Lautaro Martínez. Marcus Thuram should lead the attack, with Ange-Yoan Bonny and Francesco Pio Esposito competing to start alongside him. Nicolò Barella and Hakan Çalhanoğlu are established midfield candidates, while the selection around them offers the coach room to adjust his balance.
Benjamin Pavard rejoined group training on Monday, but that alone does not establish his availability for a full match. Ivan Provedel also returned after illness, leaving the goalkeeping decision between him and Josep Martínez open. The final defensive configuration may depend on those late fitness assessments.
