Coventry City

Milan van Ewijk could return after the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the defeat at Nottingham Forest, although he remains doubtful. Aurèle Amenda is out with a calf injury, while Josh Eccles, Luke Woolfenden and Haji Wright are also unavailable.

Brandon Thomas-Asante is expected to lead the attack. Stephen Mfuni made his first start in the last five matches against Forest and is expected to keep his place alongside Bobby Thomas and Ethan Pinnock in defence. Jay Dasilva and Matt Grimes should retain their midfield places after starting all five of Coventry City's latest matches.

Newcastle United

Newcastle head to Coventry with several fitness doubts rather than confirmed absences. Nico González, Lewis Miley and Amar Dedić have head, knock and hamstring problems respectively, but all three are expected to start for the Magpies.

Anthony Elanga is doubtful because of a knee injury and is not expected to start. Ewen Jaouen is out with a hamstring problem. Elsewhere, Dedić is expected at right-back, where Miley has also played during the last five matches, while González should take the deeper midfield role ahead of Sean Steur. González has started three of Newcastle's last five matches, compared with two for Steur.
