Pre-match preview

Chelsea

Cole Palmer is expected to start against Bournemouth, although he remains doubtful with a muscle injury. Reece James is also doubtful and could start in Chelsea's midfield if fit, while João Pedro's knee issue is not expected to clear in time for Saturday.

Jordan Henderson remains the choice ahead of Roméo Lavia, after his first start came in the defeat at Brentford. Xabi Alonso's side have won two and lost two of their last five league matches, including that 3-0 loss at Brentford, and sit 10th with seven points from five games.

Bournemouth

Alex Scott is Bournemouth's biggest concern. The midfielder had started all five recent matches before a quadriceps problem forced him to withdraw from England duty, and he is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. With fellow absentee Justin Kluivert also missing through injury, the Cherries look likely to turn to Lewis Cook alongside Tyler Adams in the middle, though David Brooks is the alternative there.

Ryan Christie, handed his first start of this run against Liverpool, is expected to begin again further forward alongside Rayan and Marcus Tavernier. Christie had previously made only one start in Bournemouth's last five matches, while Kluivert had begun four before missing the Liverpool game.
