Manchester United

The Red Devils will be missing Lisandro Martínez through suspension, while Carlos Baleba is doubtful because of a hamstring injury. Baleba has started four of the last five matches, so his availability will affect the midfield choice.

Kobbie Mainoo, who made his first start of the recent run against Roma, is competing with Andrey Santos for a place in midfield, while Joshua Zirkzee and Amad are alternatives further forward. Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven remain in contention for the centre-back spot vacated by Martínez. Patrick Dorgu and Marcus Rashford are also doubtful because of hamstring and hip injuries respectively, and Benjamin Šeško, Luke Shaw and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined.

Aston Villa

The Villans will be without Matty Cash at right-back because of suspension. Lamare Bogarde is expected to fill in, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is doubtful because of a hamstring injury.

Pau Torres remains the expected partner for Victor Lindelöf at centre-back, with Tyrone Mings also having featured there during the last five matches. Leon Goretzka, who started only one of those games, came on against Barcelona after being left out of the starting side. Amadou Onana and Matteo Ruggeri remain out with knee and hamstring injuries respectively.
