Maxim Mariani returns to TOP Oss' matchday squad for Friday's home fixture against Jong Ajax after spending six months on the sidelines. The defender made his unofficial comeback in Tuesday's 3-1 friendly victory over Jong Genk. Head coach Sjors Ultee is pleased with his recovery, although Mariani is not expected to start immediately. Kyanno Silva and Mert Erkan remain unavailable through injury.
TOP Oss suffered a 2-1 defeat against FC Den Bosch last weekend after conceding twice inside the opening thirteen minutes. Despite creating several clear chances, the visitors only pulled a goal back through substitute Milo Horemans late in the match. Ultee is expected to retain most of his regular starters, including Franslyn Nsingi and Mauresmo Hinoke. The latter leads the club's scoring charts with five league goals. Home performances have been considerably stronger than away results this season, with TOP Oss winning their last four matches at the Frans Heesen Stadion.
Jong Ajax
Monday's 2-1 victory over De Graafschap ended Jong Ajax's four-match winless run and provided a welcome confidence boost. Head coach Carlos García was particularly pleased with his team's collective effort and improved communication. Emre Ünüvar opened the scoring after intercepting a misplaced back pass shortly before half-time, but Donny Warmerdam equalised almost immediately. Jano Monserrate eventually secured all three points when his second-half cross curled directly into the net.
García praised his players' progress but felt they should have been more focused after taking the lead. Major changes are not expected for Friday's trip to TOP Oss. Charlie Setford started in goal against De Graafschap, while Jahyendrow Amour featured at left-back before being replaced by Sinclair de Falco in the second half. Ünüvar and Monserrate are also likely to retain their starting positions. Jan Faberski missed Monday's match because of a knee injury. Jong Ajax now face a side that have won their last four home fixtures.
