Jong AZ

AZ's Europa League trip to Armenia is likely to force changes to Jong AZ's starting lineup for Friday's match against Helmond Sport. Hessel de Wit and Jerolldino Bergraaf have travelled with the first team and are therefore unlikely to feature. Both players started last week's 4-4 draw against VVV-Venlo, where substitute Jasper Hartog scored twice, including a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time. The striker is now expected to be handed a starting opportunity.

Head coach Frank Peereboom also faces decisions elsewhere in the team. Ismail Ka started in goal against VVV, although Kiyani Zeggen remains an alternative. Julian Sijbrands is likely to retain his midfield position, with Bohdan Budko another option after providing the assist for Hartog's late equaliser. Kevin Toppenberg could also return to the starting lineup following his substitute appearance in Venlo. Jong AZ have scored 27 league goals this season but have also conceded 24, highlighting the team's attacking productivity and defensive struggles.

Helmond Sport

Changes are expected to Helmond Sport's starting lineup following last weekend's 2-0 home defeat against NAC Breda. Frédéric Frans' side have now gone five matches without a victory and sit nineteenth in the Eerste Divisie with just nine points. Helmond created several opportunities against NAC, but Mauro Lenaerts and Labinot Bajrami were among those unable to beat goalkeeper Michael Verrips. Joep van der Sluijs featured as a substitute and is now expected to receive a starting opportunity against Jong AZ.

Frans continues to deal with several injury concerns. Pol Llonch, Helgi Fródi Ingason and Lantaki remain unavailable, limiting his options during a demanding period. Helmond face three matches in eight days, with a cup fixture against Willem II and a local derby against FC Eindhoven following Friday's encounter. However, Frans has stressed that his immediate focus is on Jong AZ. The head coach acknowledged on Thursday that his team desperately need points and hopes to end their winless run in Wijdewormer.
