Everton

Vitalii Mykolenko remains a doubt for the Toffees' meeting with Chelsea and could miss out for a second straight match, having already sat out the draw at Hull City. Michael Keane, handed his first start of this run in defence last time out, is in contention to keep his place, with Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski the more regular fixtures there.

Brennan Johnson has started four of the last five matches and been substituted in every one, each time during the final 25 minutes. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harrison Armstrong have continued to hold down central roles, while Jordan Pickford has played every minute in goal.

Chelsea

Reece James missed the Bournemouth game with a knee injury and remains doubtful for the trip to Everton. Jamie Gittens, meanwhile, is out with an ankle injury.

Centrally, Xabi Alonso has mixed and matched in recent weeks, with Maxence Lacroix, Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong all getting games across the back three, while Colwill and Jorrel Hato have both spent time at left-back. Moisés Caicedo is expected to hold his midfield spot after making his first start of the last five matches against Bournemouth. Wesley Fofana, a regular throughout that spell, and Valentín Barco both missed that game and are expected to remain out of the side here.
