Leeroy Echteld has confirmed that AZ will make several changes for Thursday's Europa League match against Hapoel Beer Sheva. The head coach wants to manage his players carefully during a demanding run of fixtures and give other squad members opportunities. Following Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Feyenoord, he also stressed the importance of learning from his team's difficult start to that match. Echteld did not reveal which players would be rotated, but no additional injuries have been reported since the weekend. Kees Smit remains sidelined with a groin injury, while Jizz Hornkamp is still recovering.
Changes are particularly possible in defence and midfield. Wesley Hoedt could replace Lewis Schouten, while Mees de Wit and Denso Kasius are alternatives in the full-back positions. Dave Kwakman is an option instead of Jordy Clasie, who was substituted late against Feyenoord. Calvin Stengs completed the full match in Rotterdam, but Valdemar Byskov could be given an opportunity in his place. Weslley Patati, Ayoub Oufkir and Ro-Zangelo Daal are among the attacking options. Mexx Meerdink remains the preferred choice up front, with Bendegúz Kovács providing an alternative.
