Union Berlin
Josip Juranović remains doubtful for Union Berlin's game against Elversberg and has been training individually while recovering from an Achilles problem. Christopher Trimmel is expected to continue at right-back after making his first start against Bayern Munich, when Janik Haberer also came into the side.
Marvin Friedrich has returned to full team training after injury and illness, though he is not expected to start, while Andrej Ilić has yet to rejoin the group. Emmanuel Latte Lath is still expected to lead the attack, although he ended his first training session of the week early with apparent muscular problems.
Elversberg
Noah Darvich is favoured to continue as Elversberg's attacking midfielder at Union Berlin, a role he occupied for the first time in the draw at Schalke, when Francis-Ikechukwu Onyeka played only the closing minutes. Jan Gyamerah and Lukas Pinckert remain the preferred right-back and centre-back picks, with Nicholas Mickelson and Florian Le Joncour the alternatives.
David Mokwa has started and been withdrawn late in all four of Wagner's league matches this season, scoring twice in that span, and Cole Campbell has followed a similar pattern out wide. Mokwa, Gyamerah and Luca Schnellbacher missed Elversberg's friendly against Hoffenheim on 3 October — Mokwa with an Achilles problem, the other two with muscle issues — and all three remain doubtful.
