Villarreal
Tajon Buchanan is a doubt for Villarreal ahead of Elche's visit because of a muscle injury, having started three of the club's last five games.
In goal, Péter Gulácsi is set to return after sitting out the midweek game against Napoli, when Luiz Júnior made his first start of the last five matches. Alexander Freeman is expected at right-back after sharing that position with Santiago Mouriño during the same period.
Villarreal sit 11th with eight points from eight league games, having won two and lost three of their last five outings.
Elche
Federico Redondo is available again after serving a one-match suspension, while Elche also have encouraging fitness news before the trip to Villarreal. Buba Sangaré, who missed the last match with a hamstring problem, returned to training with the squad this week, as did Yago Santiago after his recovery from knee surgery. None of the three, though, looks set to start here.
Rubén Sánchez keeps his place at right-back after making his first start of the run in the last match, with Víctor Chust continuing in central defence. Going forward, Marc Aguado is preferred to Lucas Cepeda for the remaining place, while Fer Niño, who has four goals from his five starts in this run, continues to lead the attack.
